Sculptor/Maker - Green Man Festival

Deadline: 4th July 2015
Fee: Free ticket and £1000
Sculptor/Maker (ideally with pottery experience) for biology inspired workshop activity/installation at Einstein’s Garden, Green Man Festival
The Green Man Festival has earned a reputation as one of the great independant festivals in the UK. In 2010 Green Man won ‘Best Medium Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards and in 2012 won the ‘Grassroots Festival’ award. The 2015 festival dates are 21/22/23 August.
Einstein’s Garden is a creative fusion of science, art and nature. The area’s venues are packed with a vibrant programme of performances, workshops and installations that use art, entertainment and participation to engage people with the diverse aspects of science and nature in fun, quirky and unexpected ways.
We would like to work with a sculptor or maker, ideally with experience of pottery and using a potters wheel. This project will be a biology inspired workshop activity and interactive installation, developed in collaboration with scientists from Bristol University.
We are looking for someone who can engage with scientific ideas through collaboration with scientists and translate those ideas into an interactive making activity that is a creative and fun experience for audience members.
You must be available for two planning meetings in Bristol over July and the beginning of August, making time in the middle of August and be on site at the festival from Thursday 20th August - Sunday 23rd August.
While on site at the festival you will be expected to facilitate the activity, in collaboration with the scientists, between 11am and 5pm on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
We can provide a ticket to the festival and a fee of £1000.
To apply send a short covering letter explaining why you are interested in collaborating on this project with CV and images or links.
